Sand Tarts

1 c. butter, softened
3 T. powdered sugar
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
1 t. vanilla
1/4 t. salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter thoroughly. Gradually add powdered sugar; blend thoroughly, then add pecans and vanilla. Sift flour and salt together and work into sugar mixture. Pinch off by teaspoonfuls; roll in hands until pencil then. Form into crescent shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes. When cool, roll in additional powdered sugar. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
