Auntie's Sherried Strawberries

4 egg yolks
1 cup sugar, granulated
2 - 4 tablespoons of sherry
2 pints of strawberries
1/2 pint whipping cream, whipped

In a saucepan, combine yolks and sugar; cook until thickened, about 5 mins. Remove from heat and add sherry. Chill. Fold whipped cream into sherry mixture; chill. Slice strawberries in half or quarters and just before serving, fold into whipped cream mixture. Yield: 8 servings
